Management Team

The management team at Health Monitoring Corporation has over 140 years combined experience in the medical field with a major emphasis in sleep medicine. This includes medical device and software development, manufacturing, marketing, sales and support. Additional experience in sleep facility design, management, lab accreditation, clinical research and polysomnography education provides a background for this team to undertake the most challenging of projects. A brief description of each member follows below.
Anand Kumar, President - Chief Executive Officer
Since graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with advanced degrees in computer science and electronics, Anand has spent the last 38 years in medical device research and product development. He has specialized in sleep medicine and been a consultant on numerous European projects developing new drug therapies and medical devices. In 1987 he became a faculty member at the University of Amsterdam and leader of the sleep research group where he taught sleep diagnosis, signal analysis and artificial intelligence. In 1988 Anand co-founded Medcare, an international company on sleep diagnostics and sleep research and in 2000 he co-founded Personal Health Institute int., a dynamic technology-based company with a strong focus on R&D in advanced micro systems technology for patient monitoring and clinical diagnosis.
Andrea Clark, Vice President - Chief Operating Officer
Andrea has been in the field of sleep medicine for over 30 years first as a technologist at The Ohio State University Sleep Disorders Center, as the coordinator of a community hospital’s sleep center and then as an administrator over the Sleep Disorders Center and four related departments at Herman Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Andrea left the hospital setting in 1999 to set up and manage two free standing Sleep Disorders Centers in the Houston area. In 2005 she founded and became President of Sleep Management Centers and Apnea Management Services in Fort Myers, Florida. Andrea has served as an examiner and member of the Exam Development Committee of the BRPT for the last 20 years. In addition she has served as a board member with the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST), and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
Winni Hofman, Vice President of Clinical Research
Winni has been in the field of sleep for 37 years. She obtained her PhD degree from the University of Amsterdam and for the last 20 years has been a faculty member teaching advanced sleep medicine courses. After beginning her career at the sleep clinic of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas she moved on to various European sleep research projects including “EU-clock”, a large consortium of companies working on biological rhythm and sleep. Winni has been a consultant to the Dutch Health Council, Dutch Ministry of Environment and the European Union developing polices to improve sleep quality by reducing sleep disturbances. In 1987 Winni co-founded Medcare and in 2000 she co-founded Personal Health Institute int. Since 2005 Winni has developed and clinically validated an internet based CBT program for the treatment of insomnia.
Michael Clark, Vice President of Sales and Business Development
With a background in engineering Michael has been in the medical field for over 35 years. He began his career as Director of the Neurology Electronics Laboratory in London, Canada. Later he founded Clark-Davis Medical and developed a market leading neurodiagnostic device for monitoring EMG and Evoked Potentials. During this time he was instrumental in establishing and teaching the biomedical engineering CO-OP program at Fanshawe College, London, Canada and also as Director of Engineering of an overseas consumer electronics company. He has been in sleep medicine for 20 years and directly involved with the development, marketing and sales of a number of industry leading sleep diagnostic products that include Sandman, Rembrandt and Medibyte sleep systems and Enterprise and Pursuit Outcomes sleep lab management programs.
